ABOUT ME
"Yesterday I was clever and wanted to change the world. Today I am wise so I am changing myself"
I love this anonymous quote and try my best to live my life by it. Change truly is the only constant and I'm actually starting to like it. I am on a constant quest to better myself and have learned to love the changes life throws at us.
Many of the big changes I have recently undergone have to do with moving across the state and my enrollment at UC. I am now going into my fifth year at The University of Cincinnati I am still finding new things to do in the big city of Cincinnati that I consider a second home. At UC I have had great opportunities to pursue my passions in both academic and extra-curricular involvement. During my first year I was able to get involved in UHP (UC's Honors Program), UC Women's Chorus, and I participated in a month long study-abroad program in Madrid, Spain. My second year brought just as much excitement and involvement in SAI (Sigma Alpha Iota, International Music Fraternity).

The past three years I was heavily involved and help a variety of leadership opportunities including being Recruitment chair then moving up to President of UC Choruses. However as a fourth year, I will still participate in all of my organizations, but I have stepped back and let other ambitious student leaders fill those positions as I focus on career and volunteer opportunities. On Campus, I am returning to work in the CEAS for the third consecutive year and I am starting a new on campus position with the Learning Academic Center as an Academic Coach. I also am planning to work a few hours a week off campus as a part time Intern with Su Casa Hispanic Center
Beyond involvement, UC has also provided ample opportunity for me to pursue my passions through academics. A personal passion of mine is learning foreign languages and striving for fluency in as many of them as I can. Although I am majoring in Spanish, I have also taken courses in French and Italian and hope to study other languages such as German, Greek and Portuguese and many others. I am now nearing the end of my double major in Spanish and International Business. These two majors make me a student in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business. Although double-majoring in two different colleges allows less overlap in credits, I feel that the combination of both mindsets and range of studies will provide me with a unique skill set in the professional world. I am not entirely sure where I will apply my skills after graduation but as of now, with Spanish and any other languages I have time to learn, I hope to become a certified as a medical translator, or work in a bilingual business setting.

Another passion of mine is working with a program called Project Mexico. Project Mexico is an Orthodox Christian organization dedicated to building houses for needy families in Mexico. I have participated in summer trips with Project Mexico twice and loved every second of it. After many years of patience and improving my resume, I can finally say that I have been accepted to return as an Intern and serve Project Mexico for a second summer. I have been working towards this since the first time I participated in a week-long trip in 2011 and finally being accepted is extremely rewarding. Working with the families and being able to use my Spanish to communicate was very fulfilling and helped me choose my major. I loved working on my fluency during both of my trips to Mexico and my recent trip to Spain and can't wait to see how much I can gain from returning to Mexico and staying for around 3 months with on the Project Mexico staff this summer.
Another volunteer experience I have found correlating to my interests is teaching ESL with Su Casa Hispanic Center in Cincinnati. I was unable to give many hours this year but plan to increase my involvement in the fall as a part-time Intern.
After living in Mexico and exploring my interests I have found that construction, teaching, and living abroad are things that I am very interested in! In one of my remaining semesters I plan to study abroad in Santiago Chile. Similarly upon graduation I plan to offer my services to Project Mexico for a full time job, and apply to the Peace Corps. It it to early to tell whether one or either of these will materialize, but God-willing I will be living abroad for a year or two after graduation. Whether that will lead me to a more traditional job or to grad school is unclear, but I hope to help people wherever I end up!
Personally, I find joy in music, singing, service, artistic outlets, meeting people, learning languages, napping, petting dogs, and a nice cup of coffee. Whether I am making a mural out of paint sample on my dorm room wall, playing my guitar or ukulele, planning my next trip out of the country, or getting to know someone I just met, I am loving pursing my interests and spending my time at UC and cannot wait to see what the rest of my time as a student brings.
