chile spring 2018
Chile is an incredible country that I had the honor to live in for four months. I for one was astounded by the incredible number of natural sites and how diverse they are. The north of Chile is one of the driest places in the world and home to a plethora of international observatories due to the breathtaking view of the stars. Santiago, where I lived and went to school, is a booming city of 7 million people. The south of Chile is by far one of the most beautiful things I have experienced in my life. Patagonia deserves its lofty reputation and despite being rather hard to get to at the bottom of the world, it attracts hundreds of thousands of hikers each year. All along the western coast are beautiful beaches, meanwhile the eastern half, and a large portion of the country is home to the Andes mountain range. The amount of beauty crammed into one skinny country is remarkable. I would love to return, and I encourage anyone who is interested to explore the gifts Chile has to offer.
Project Mexico Summer 2016/2017/2018
After my two week-long trips in high school, I knew Project Mexico was the place for me. Unfortunately after applying to go the summer after high school I was not accepted. I was however, after reapplying, able to return and serve as an Intern during the summer of 2016 and will return for the summer of 2017. As interns, around 20 of us live in intern-housing on the Casa Hogar San Inocencio, St. Innocent's Boys Orphanage or "the ranch" in Rosarito, Mexico. On a normal day, we help with the upkeep of the Homebuilding process and get to interact with the boys. Once a group of volunteers arrive, our role changes significantly. Throughout the summer week-long volunteers come down to ranch to build houses in groups of 50-125 depending on the week. With these volunteers, on any given week, we will build 2-5 houses for needy families in the community. As Interns, we facilitate everything in regards to living and eating for the volunteers on the ranch, and on site, we teach them how to build a house! I am incredibly passionate about my work with Project Mexico and hope to keep teaching, helping, and building for as long as I can!

Spain summer 2015After spring semester I embarked on my first trip to Europe. For the duration of the four weeks I stayed in Madrid, but also saw Toledo, Spain, and Segovia, Spain. Spain is Full of history, culture, and most importantly great food! I look forward to working with UC International and UHP to see where else I can travel during my time at UC!

CHicago spring 2015Despite living 6 hours away from Chicago my entire life, I had never been to the Windy City. Every year UC Choruses tours somewhere over spring break. Hailing cabs, visiting the shore, and participating in the UC Chorus events were all great experiences. I even visited an old friend and she cut 14 inches of my hair off to donate! One of my favorite days was when we sang with the Chicago Children's Chorus. I enjoyed my time and the pizza very much!

mexico summer 2011 & 2013Twice during my summers in high school I volunteered with a mission group called Project Mexico. Each trip was one week long. During these trips the volunteers stay in tents set up on an old ranch that has been restored and converted into a boys orphanage. During the week we are split into teams and each team build a house for a family in need. During my first trip I had only taken two years of Spanish but even back then I thoroughly enjoyed communicating as much as I could. I love interacting with the other missionaries and with the families and hope to work or volunteer with this program more in the future!
